“An entangling of diverse perceptions of our existence and the various approaches we use to communicate our experience of the world, brought together through the internet and the drum of the shaman at the beach of lake Vomb in southern Sweden, in an aim to achieve joint resonance in this time of forced distance. The Core is a collaboration between artists, scientists, musicians, a shaman and a sediment core from lake Vomb. The research findings of the sediment core reflect the past 14.500 years of developments of the lake, its surrounding landscape and the human generations inhabiting it. In The Core, these findings function both as a mirror for our time and an echo chamber through which the participants are able to gather and combine each of their specific trades. By exploring a wider notion of the now, applying specific and situated knowledges of history paired with a kaleidoscope of contemporary perspectives, the aim is for us to be able to take responsibility of our imprint on the future. Through the bringing together of science, art and music in experimental combination at a site charged both with depths of history and strong values of varying kinds, we make space for new ways of creating and inhabiting our world. This performance takes place under the September Full Moon.
This work was made possible with the generous support of Kultur Skåne, Kulturrådet, Lund University, Teleservice, Vombverket and Sydvatten.”
